Abondance is a tasty cheese made from cow's milk, with a smooth rind, although with a firm but flexible texture. This cheese has a delicate aroma of the good cellar. It has a mixture of fruity notes and a slightly salty taste.
The name of Abondance cheese comes from the main town where the market was held, located in the region of Thonon-Les-Bains (Haute-Savoie). This cheese of Savoy is made with whole milk of cows of the race known as "Abondance" coagulated very slowly at a temperature between 45 and 50 °C AOC since 1990.
Frères Marchand Abondance can be enjoyed at the end of a meal on a tasting tray, in a sandwich as a snack, or of course in cooking in traditional dishes such as tartiflette or fondue savoyarde.
